Fort Tabarsi Mixtape vol. 1 Bahaimatic
Dear friends,
A good friend and spiritual brother of mine, Artemus Stover, aka Shahid Pa, and his group (which also includes another brother, Jamal Lally, aka Sez One) recently relased a cd of Baha'i hip hop, Fort Tabarsi Mixtape vol. 1 Bahaimatic. This stuff is good, really shows the art of hip hop, and I wanted to get the word out...so here is a link to one of their songs.
If you like it, let me know. If you really like it, let him know, and he can hook you up with a copy.
Artemus and I go way back, to a time of hightop fades and surfcuts, and were blessed to spend a couple of concurrent years in Chapel Hill, NC. Fortunately we have stayed in contact as he has gone off to NYC to pursue his literary aspirations. He has an online literary journal, The Brotherwise Dispatch, dedicated to "Intellectual Resistance, Spiritual Revolution & Hip Hop." I encourage you to take a second to see what he has to say.

Yo, it's dope as hell. I'm actually a little late about Fort Tabarsi, I never heard the first mixtape but Vol.2 "Spiritual Warrior Ballads" is out of control. I'm new to Bahai but I've been listening to Hip Hop since 'old school' and FT get respect for their original style and deep unapologetic lyricism. They are only Bahaist music my boys who dont do Bahai can listen to with me and respect.
Maybe it's just an NYC east coast thing but alot of Bahaist music out there is too soft and doesn't speak to anyone outside the suburbs, but that dont mean FT is gangsta, I listen to vol.2 all day and I never thought they try to be hard, they are serious though. Also, to criticize them for unoriginal beats on a 'mixtape cd' is a little redundant, thats what 'mixtapes' are for. I guess not everyone who listens to them really understands where Hip Hop comes from. I do agree with Reza though, if you like Tupac or that smoothed out west coast sound you won't like FT, but if you like east coast hardcore tracks KRS-ONE, public enemy, wu-tang and nas you will like FORT TABARSI, no doubt.
peace.

Not sure if anyone actually reads this post site anymore - but anyway: Bahaullah Prevails - how is it a good song? Just because the Faith lacks good hiphop, doesn't mean the only song that is released is actually good. Try not to be biased coz you're a Bahai - it wouldn't do well - it uses an unoriginal beat, its gangsta (gunshots in tunez tryin 2promote unity?) Good start, good lyrics, but why try be hard? coz you're not - and none of us should be trying to be... why rap about love, unity and have gangsta beats? seriously think of this shit ...
some girl's voices would be good in chorus of some songs, soften it up .... yeah - think 2pac (10years gone yet legacy only grows) - always got a strong point across and made his music good too
giving constructive criticism - no offence - keep it up.
In his Service
Reza

Great, I enjoyed this and as we are promoting the universality of Baha'u'llah's message in our radio programme we want music of differing contrasts to make our programme colourful. Keep up the wonderful music and talent in our world wide community and keep everyone inspired.

I listen to Baha'u'llah Prevails all the time! It has helped inspire the Baha'is in Ottawa, Canada to continue their Spiritual Raps. Be sure to check them out on MartinsQuest.com!
